A Man of Integrity

He was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a man whose kindness, strength, and wisdom touched the lives of many.

John lived quietly and gave generously — a steady presence in his home, his church, and his community. His faith was not loud; it was patient, practised, and unmistakable in the way he treated every person he met.

He leaves behind a family shaped by his example: a love of learning, a love of neighbour, and a quiet insistence that character matters more than acclaim. His light continues in each of us.

EARLY LIFE

Born 1942

Born in 1942 to the late Gerishon Kinyanjui and the late Miriam Wairimu, John grew up among nine siblings in a home grounded in faith and hard work.

EDUCATION

A Student for Life

He began school in 1951 at Noigam Primary School, Trans Nzoia, then Kitale Union School, Njoro Boys' High School, and finally Star Commercial College.

SERVICE & WORK

Diligence & Integrity

He taught at Malewa Primary School for four years, then served at T.L. Eliots, S&O, Impala Hotel and Copy Cat — building a reputation for professionalism and integrity. In retirement he turned to farming, with a great love for fruit: strawberries, gooseberries and pomegranates.

MARRIAGE & FAMILY

Stella, and Seven Children

In 1967 he married Stella Kahaki Njuguna; they were wed on 7th September 1968 at A.C.K. St. Peter's Church, Githunguri. They were blessed with seven children, thirteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

CHRISTIAN LIFE

A Faithful Servant

From A.C.K. Emmanuel Church, Riruta, to All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi, and finally A.C.K. Emmanuel Church, Gituamba, he served as Finance Chairperson of Kipipiri Parish and Vice Chairperson of KAMA, mentoring many along the way.

COURAGE

An Advocate for Many

Living with diabetes from 1998, he faced it with courage and discipline, serving as Chairperson of the Kenya Diabetes Association and championing awareness on KBC's Your Health programme. He passed peacefully on 26th July 2026.
